More About Attorney Carmona

Daniela Carmona was born in Havana, Cuba and graduated from the University of Havana School of Law in 2016, ranking in the top 5% of her class and receiving the Golden Seal for academic achievement. During her second year, and after booking her Contracts class, she accepted a position as an active learning instructor for Contracts. She helped first-year law students with their outlines and preparation for quizzes, midterms, and finals. From her third year until graduation, she also served as a learning instructor for Wills and Trusts. During her five years of study, she participated in Scientific Journals, International Events, and Honor’s Exams. She also served as a legal intern at an international law firm where she conducted extensive legal research and writing, interviewed clients, and assisted in hearings with her supervising attorney.

A month after graduation from the University of Havana School of Law, Daniela and her family migrated to the United States. She gave up her professional life in Cuba to come to this country in search of a better life for herself, her family and for a taste of freedom. Upon arriving to the United States, Daniela enrolled in English classes at Miami-Dade College. She then enrolled in a TOEFL preparation course at Florida International University and successfully passed the test on her first attempt. She self-studied for the LSAT exam allowing her to attend law school in the United States.

After receiving her U.S. work permit, Daniela started working as a secretary in a personal injury law firm in Miami. Within six months, she was promoted to Legal Assistant- becoming the right hand of the Senior Attorney at the firm. She assisted in the representation of clients in mediations and global settlement conferences of bodily injury cases.

Daniela was admitted to St. Thomas University College of Law in 2019. She enrolled in the Advanced Standing Program, in which her foreign legal degree served as her second year of law school. Based on her academic achievements at the end of her first year, Daniela was the recipient of a Merit Scholarship for the remainder of her legal education. She was also the recipient of the Cuban American Bar Association’s (CABA) Endowed Scholarship, which is awarded yearly to an applicant who has distinguished themselves academically and/or in service-oriented activities. She was a member of the Dean’s List in the Fall 2019 and has received seven CALI Book Awards, including Civil Procedure, Legal Research and Writing, Constitutional Law, Property, Wills and Trusts, Evidence, and Professional Responsibility.

Daniela was the first STU Law student to be admitted to JURIST, a non-profit online legal news service run by law student volunteers. For JURIST, Daniela served as a writer and editor of domestic and international legal news, written in both English and Spanish. She additionally was an intern for the Cuban American Bar Association, where she helped indigent persons gain access to the legal system through pro bono representation. Daniela graduated summa cum laude from St. Thomas University College of Law in May 2021. She was the Valedictorian of her class and delivered the student speech at the graduation ceremony.

After passing the July 2021 Florida Bar Exam, Daniela accepted a position as an Associate Personal Injury Attorney at the same law firm where she used to work as a Secretary. In 2022, Daniela decided to launch Law Office of Daniela Carmona, PLLC where she specializes in personal injury cases. Today, Daniela serves as the CEO and principal attorney at her own law firm.
